Ann C. Cloutier , of Westport, Massachusetts, is the owner/breeder of the Bernoodle puppy line ...Having owned various purebred dogs and two Bernese Mountain dogs, I knew what traits I liked in a pet. I wanted a friendly, loyal, intelligent, and trainable animal in our family.
There are no guarantees for the health of any creature, but the odds are higher for the best traits to be joined when two purebred dogs are mated. I hated putting down my Bernese dog to cancer. He was a wonderful dog. So I began my information, data, and facts research.
I applied my basic understanding of genetic traits (science teacher by occupation) and decided to experiment with the two breeds that had the looks and qualities I desired. To see the beautiful curly fur, striking colors, and personalities develop in the Bernoodle puppies was a thrill.
I believe that my dream to make healthy, adorable companions, with a blend of playful puppy curiosity, the Bernese Mountain dog calmness, loyalty, mixed with the bright intelligence of the Parti Standard Poodle, is the living experiment succeeding.
Whenever one of the puppies goes anywhere, people stop and ask, what kind of dog is that? These puppies are remarkable and affectionate. They are one-of-a-kind: the Bernoodle!
